About Us

"Our History"

Redden Bridge Wines Pty Ltd is a family owned company located on the Wrattonbully Road in Wrattonbully south of Naracoorte in South Australia. The beautiful, gently-undulating country supports many fascinating agricultural and natural industries, making the region a picturesque and inspirational area in which to live.

The Owners Greg & Emma Koch and their family moved to the region in 1995 and planted their first Cabernet and Shiraz vines and built their home from the stones cleared from the vineyard. Nestled into the western side of the hill, surrounded by vines and Red Gums, the stunning sunsets and views are touched magically by the light of the setting sun.

Greg also owns a vineyard development and management company – Terra Rossa Viticultural Management Pty Ltd established in 1995. He is responsible for the planting and management of over 1100ac in the region, and is well respected for his management practices. His 28 years in the business giving him a sound understanding of the viticulture and the wine industry.

Gregs' innate knowledge of vines has been the key their success in Biodynamic and biological farming. Emmas strong belief in soil strength equating plant health lead them to try chemical free farming have great results with compost teas and microbial teas to control disease outbreaks and to improve their soils. After 6 years of improving their soils, they have decided to certify their vineyard as organic, a formality that will hopefully help their wines in the market place.

We were also lucky to join forces with one of South Australias most respected winemakers, Robin Moody. Robin is a retired South Corp winemaker and has worked on such classics as the Penfolds Grange and those fabulous St Henri's and Bin 389's! He has a successful label at Kangaroo Island with Cape d'Estang, and now is consulting to lucky people like us!

The quality of fruit from this vineyard pleased us so much and based on the success of other wines, namely Picarus, made from our fruit, we decided to release a label of our own. The name Redden Bridge is taken from the bridge nearby, which is a 1950's classic & too good to pass up.

Our wines have recently been awarded silver and bronze medals in the Limestone Coast Wine Show and Best Single Vineyard Wine in 2005, prompting our (still underconstruction!) website for
mail order.

The most important aspect we would like to pass on to you - is that we love to share the wines we make with our friends. These wines are a joy to drink and are priced competitively. We hope you enjoy the wine style produced by Greg and his team, including our winemaker Robin Moody. We look forward to extending and maintaining our standards for you.
